The 2013 Nissan Sentra, on-sale this fall at Nissan of Cool Springs, is poised to set a new standard in its segment.

  • Wrapping a mid-size cabin in a sleek, compact-sized design, the 2013 Nissan Sentra is starting with a best-in-class combined fuel-economy rating of 34 mpg. That goes with marks of up to 30 mpg city/40 mpg highway, all enabled by key advancements including:
  • A curb weight more than 150 lbs. (5 percent) lower than that of the outgoing Sentra
  • Enhanced aerodynamics that shave the Sentra’s coefficient of drag all the way down to 0.29 (from 0.34)
  • Nissan’s next-generation Xtronic CVT (continuously variable transmission)
  • A punchy new 1.8-liter I4 that also makes 130 hp and 128 lb.-ft. of torque

Of course, engineers went the extra mile to ensure drivers could do the same while still enjoying a dynamic driving experience. As detailed by Al Castignetti, vice president and general manager of the Nissan division for Nissan North America: “In the race for fuel-economy bragging rights, sometimes what gets lost in the mix is drivability. Sentra’s new engine and advanced CVT design are perfectly matched to provide the best of both mpg and driving enjoyment—smooth, quiet and efficient operation around town or while highway cruising, responsive acceleration, and excellent mpg and driving range.”

The redesigned Sentra builds on its impeccable road manners with a surprisingly premium interior, too. In addition to its roomy dimensions—which include 37.4 inches of rear legroom even with the front seats pulled all the way back—the cabin boasts standard soft-touch accents, power windows/locks, air conditioning (with filter), and even a rear-seat armrest with cupholders.

Moving up to the more premium Sentra models will provide owners with added accoutrements, including unexpectedly up-scale features like the NissanConnect with Navigation system. This cutting-edge resource melds full-function nav capabilities (leveraging a 5.8-inch color touchscreen) with the latest in connectivity tech, ranging from a hands-free messaging “assistant” to a Pandora Internet radio interface to Bluetooth streaming audio and more.

Nissan North America Honored for Extraordinary Support of Employees Who Serve in the Mississippi National Guard and Reserve

The Mississippi Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), an agency of the U.S. Department of Defense, announced today that Nissan North America and Arree Williams, manager of product quality assurance at Nissan’s Canton, Miss. vehicle assembly plant, were honored with the Patriot Award in recognition of Nissan’s extraordinary support for employees who serve in the Mississippi National Guard and Reserve.

The Patriot Award was created by ESGR to publicly recognize individuals who provide outstanding patriotic support and cooperation to their employees, who like the citizen warriors before them, have answered their nation’s call to serve. SGT Stephen D. Pruitt nominated Nissan and his manager, Arree Williams, for being highly supportive of the Army National Guard.

“We appreciate and commend Nissan’s support for the men and women that serve our country. Supportive companies and supervisors are critical to maintaining the strength and readiness of the nation’s National Guard and Reserve units,” said Derwood Boyles, Mississippi ESGR Chair Emeritus.

Nissan of Cool Springs reports 85% of vehicles to be built in North America by 2015

North American facilities to make that happen. After a $5.2 billion cash infusion, Nissan will grow by 9,000 jobs, expand capacity by 425,000 vehicles and 200,000 lithium-ion batteries.

With its existing NA plants, Nissan already produces all its core models here. But by 2015, the company plans to build at its North American plants 85% of all Nissan and Infiniti models sold in the U.S. Nissan’s Smyrna, Tenn. plant will soon add the Leaf and Rogue to its lineup and the Canton, Miss. plant will add the Sentra to its truck production. To pull off that expanded lineup, Canton will get 1,000 new jobs boosting its payroll to 4,500 workers.

Nissan also has an engine plant in Decherd, Tenn., which will add 90 jobs this year and up to 400 new jobs eventually, to help build electric motors for the Leaf as well as Daimler.

In Mexico, Nissan plans to spend $2 billion to add a third plant with 3,000 workers making 175,000 subcompacts by late next year.

“Jack in the Box Munch for Hunger” was at Cool Springs Auto Mall with Proceeds Benefiting Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee

The Greater Nashville Area Community was invited to a cheap lunch, just $1, and peace of mind knowing that their burger will put Second Harvest 4 meals closer to curing hunger in our community.

The inaugural “Jack in the Box Munch for Hunger” food drive took place on Thursday, July 19th from 12:00pm-2pm at the Cool Springs Auto Mall in Franklin, Tennessee.

Who thought taking a lunch break at your local Auto Dealership could help fight hunger? That’s what you get when you combine the Cool Springs Auto Mall (located in Franklin Tennessee, just across I-65 from the Cool Springs Galleria off Baker’s Bridge Rd), Jack in the Box Munchie Mobile and Second Harvest Food Bank.

“It all came about rather smoothly, and the partnership just made sense,” says Jacquelyn Thomley, spokesperson for the Cool Springs Auto Mall. “Jack in the Box wanted to showcase their new mobile unit and do something for the community but needed a local partner with a prime location and large staff to make it happen. We jumped at the opportunity.”

Second Harvest, a favorite charity of the Cool Springs Auto Mall, was the natural choice for a charity partner. Able to turn just $1 into 4 meals for hungry families, Second Harvest, Jack in the Box and the Cool Springs Auto Mall came together to create the “Jack in the Box Munch for Hunger”.

The inaugural “Jack in the Box Munch for Hunger” food drive took place on Thursday, July 19th from 12:00pm-2pm at the Cool Springs Auto Mall in Franklin, Tennessee.

Nissan of Cool Springs Reports the future of Versa, best-selling sub-compact in U.S.

As a part of Nissan North America’s offensive of five new models in 15 months, the sub-compact Versa hatchback will receive a fresh new look that takes design cues from the new Nissan Note.

The Nissan Note, which will go on sale in Japan in September and Europe in 2013, hints at the design direction for the next Versa hatchback to be sold in the Americas. Both are based on the company’s global V-platform, but the Versa will embrace features tailored to its markets in North and South America. More details about the future Versa hatchback will be available closer to its launch.

The Versa family includes sedan and hatchback versions in the U.S. and leads the sub-compact market with 60,919 sales thus far in 2012, outselling its nearest competitors, Honda Fit, Hyundai Accent and Ford Fiesta for a more than 22 percent share of the segment.

“Nissan’s sales dominance in the sub-compact segment was driven by Versa’s triple-digit gain in June,” said Al Castignetti, vice president and general manager, Nissan Division. “The Versa offers exceptional value, excellent fuel economy and numerous features rarely available in other models in this segment.”

Nissan also announced the 2013 Versa sedan, available soon at Nissan of Cool Springs, has been upgraded to achieve 40 miles per gallon on the highway. The second-generation Nissan Versa sedan, introduced last year, redefines compact car value. It combines a sophisticated exterior design, well-appointed interior and exceptional room for five adults – including more rear legroom than many mid-size sedans.

Fireworks have been with Americans since the nation’s very beginnings, and now more fireworks are ignited for the Fourth of July than for any other national celebration in the world.

Fireworks have been a part of celebrations since they were first invented by the Chinese and then popularized in the West by the Italians. The earliest European settlers brought their love of fireworks to this country. Firings of black powder were used to celebrate holidays and to impress and intimidate the natives.

By the time of the American Revolution, fireworks had long played a part in celebrating important events.

It was natural, then, that not only John Adams but also many of his countrymen should think of fireworks when independence from England was declared.

The day will be most memorable in the history of America. I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated by succeeding generations as the great anniversary festival…It ought to be solemnized with pomp and parade…bonfires and illuminations (fireworks) from one end of this continent to the other, from this time forward forevermore. –John Adams, July 3, 1776

The very first celebration of Independence Day was in 1777 (six years before Americans knew whether the new nation would even survive the war. Fireworks were an important factor in igniting the population, to believe that they could indeed be their own nation.

Nissan of Cool Springs Knows 3 Good Reasons Your Car Needs an Oil Change

An oil change is an important part of maintaining the way your vehicle works. Without it, you will find yourself struggling to actually keep the vehicle running at its best. This can lead to problems including a reduction in fuel economy, more wear and tear on the engine and, if you really put it off, it could completely cause the shutdown of your engine leaving you without a car or with a very large expense to get it back up and running. There are several reasons your vehicle needs this fluid and its replacement on a regular basis.

Cools the Car

One of the ways that oil is important to the function of the car is to keep it cool. As it circulates through the vehicle, it pulls out the heat created during the combustion process. There is no other way for this heat to escape the vehicle in a fast and efficient way. By removing it through the circulation of the fluid, it helps to keep the vehicle’s engine humming along without overheating.

Keeps Debris Out

One of the biggest reasons to have an oil change is to remove the previous, thickened fluid from the vehicle. As the engine runs, it will pick up dirt, debris and other by-products from the function of the car. These materials cannot stay in the engine. The unveiling and first-in dealership launch party of the all-new 2013 Nissan Altima in the USA was hosted by Nissan of Cool Springs located in Franklin, Tennessee.

Over 175 customers, media and Nissan corporate and dealership employees attended the unveiling of the all-new 2013 Nissan Altima at Nissan of Cool Springs, located in Franklin, Tennessee.

Jason Stacy, Owner and Executive Manager, of Nissan of Cool Springs, proudly did the honors of the actual unveiling of the 2013 Nissan Altima on June 12, 2012 as the first time ever in the United States.

Highlights of the evening included refreshments, food and Games. John Burton of Antioch, TN and long-time Nissan of Cool Springs customer was thrilled to win a brand new IPad.

About the 2013 Nissan Altima

With over 20 years of success, the Altima has improved with sleeker styling, more horsepower, an updated rear suspension, weight reduction, “zero gravity” seating, plenty of warning detection systems, an innovative tire pressure monitor and more, making it a serious contender for best in its class. Nissan claims that while the upscale full-size Maxima is about performance, this mid-size machine is about fuel efficiency. But after our first drive this week in Nashville, Tennessee, it’s obvious the 2013 Altima is about far more than just that one number.

Starting at $21,500 and recognized as the best-selling Nissan in the line-up, the Altima continues to be offered with 2.5-liter engine with 182 hp and 180 lb-ft of torque, as well as a 3.5-liter V6 with 270 hp and 258 lb-ft. While changes to the engine aren’t dramatic, updates to the transmission come with 70 percent of the continuously variable transmission (CVT) components being redesigned with an expanded gear ratio, while friction has been cut by 40 percent to help free-up horsepower.

As mentioned, there’s an impressive 38 mpg highway number on the 4-cylinder; better than any other non-hybrid mid-size sedan. City mileage is also impressive with a 27 mpg rating. As for the V6, you’ll get an estimated 22/30 city/highway mpg.

Helping both the fuel economy and performance of the car is a lighter body that’s more rigid too. The use of high-strength aluminum steel helps cut a total of 79 lbs. from the new Altima.
